Analysis of School Magazine Cover

I chose the title 'Student Weekly' as my masthead because it shows the target audience is students and will cover student themed topics and stories.
I used yellow and black colours as it can capture the readers eye as well as using the schools colours to give the magazine a sense of belonging.
The black stoke around the yellow font helps the yellow stand out more.
My main image consists of a year 12 pupil with the picture being a middle close-up which has had the background removed by using photoshop. The composition of the main image is also clear as it is the largest picture and in the centre of the cover. The main image also indicates to the splash as it shows the pupil who is being interviewed.

I also included two subsidiary images which are appropriately used as they are smaller than the main image and are being used to help fill dead space on either side of the cover.
The subsidiaries also give a clear indication of the stories they're representing as the picture of the school reception foes with the 'new reception' story as it demonstrates what the reception looks like. The picture of the school buliding goes with the 'extension to the school grounds' story as it can give the audience an idea of what area is going to be extended.

For sell lines, I used 3 different ones to help the reader gain an idea of what will be inside the magazine. The sell lines also used the yellow font with black stoke to keep with the reoccurring theme of the school colours.
To make the cover more interesting I used a quote which could be within what the splash is about to intrigue the reader and make them by the magazine.
I used four different fonts on the cover to ensure variation and everything doesn't look the same and become repetitive while incorporating various font sizes to show what text was more important; so the text with the largest font is the most important text.
